Heat-press settings for our standard DTF and Poly Blocker transfers. Check your fabric before pressing a batch.
Cotton and 50/50 blends: 140°C for 10 seconds. Polyester: 135°C for 8 seconds. Use high to firm pressure and always put a silicone sheet or parchment paper over the transfer. These are the settings for our film and adhesive, so they may be lower than you're used to from other suppliers.
Heat the press to temperature. If the garment feels at all damp, pre-press it for 2 to 3 seconds to drive out moisture. Place the transfer face down, cover it, and press for the time above. Then let it cool for 5 to 10 seconds and peel the film away gently while it's still warm. For extra adhesion, cover it again and press for another 5 to 10 seconds. Let the garment cool completely before you handle it, and leave it 24 hours before the first wash.
These heat-press settings do not apply to sublimation or UV DTF. Sublimation settings depend on the transfer and the item you are decorating; check our application FAQs and contact us before pressing if you are unsure. UV DTF is applied by hand, without a heat press.
For fleece, nylon, coated fabrics and caps, test on a spare item first, starting from the polyester settings, or ask us before you press a batch. For dyed polyester sportswear, where colour can bleed into the white, choose our Poly Blocker transfers.
High to firm means the platen closes with real resistance. Too light and the adhesive never keys into the fibres, and edges lift in the first wash. Zips, seams and buttons tent the platen and steal pressure from the print area: use a pressing pillow or move the print away from hardware.
Not reliably. Irons can't hold temperature or apply even pressure, the two things DTF needs. An entry-level heat press costs less than the garments a failed batch ruins.
